As I mentioned in my previous post – Blue Tit bird box – at night – I wanted to capture a video of the blue tit in the box prior to the bird going to sleep. Unfortunately in this video (below), I haven’t captured the bird arriving, but it does show how active the bird is! Towards the end the bird does go to sleep – albeit for a short while before fidgeting.
The previous videos I’ve posted on YouTube have all been from the webcam that is installed in the Scaley’s bird box. The video in this post is from the night vision camera which plugs into a TV usually. Yes there are two cameras! It’s quite cramped at the top of the box.
In order to capture this video I’ve plugged the component AV cables into my media center PC TV tuner card (Hauppauge WinTV HVR4000) and then used the included software to record from the component feed. The quality is great! with relatively little if any lag or frame stuttering. Only trouble is, its only black and white…
I’ll try and get another video in a few weeks time of the bird arriving in the box before bed as it’s (sadly) quite fascinating 🙂
Our baby blue tits have all flown the nest within a 30 minute period on Friday morning. The last bird required a bit of encouragement from the parent birds and a video of the last one leaving the nest is below. Good luck little birdies!
